Should the Eagles try to trade up in the 2020 Draft?

One of the Eagles biggest needs for the 2020 season will be wide receiver. Currently, the Eagles own the 21st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, should they try to trade up into the top 15 in order to pick Henry Ruggs III, who ran a 4.27 40 at the NFL Combine?

Currently the Eagles are expected to have 10 draft picks, depending on how the compensatory picks shake out, so Howie should have the ammunition available to move up.

Adding speed at wide receiver, coupled with a healthy DeSean Jackson, should give Carson Wentz a dangerous 1-2 punch on the outside to compliment the 1-2 punch of Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert at Tight End.

Harold Carmichael to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

This is a video that I forgot that I had and forgot to post, so it’s a month old at this point, but as the title says, Eagles legend Harold Carmichael who was a Wide Receiver for the Eagles in the 1970’s and 1980, will FINALLY be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This is an honor that is very long overdue! Harold was one of the best wide receivers of the decade of the 1970s and his induction will be a great moment for all Eagles fans, past, present and future.

All or Nothing: The Philadelphia Eagles

A few days ago, Amazon Prime Video released the latest season of “All or Nothing”, which follows an NFL team through the season. It’s similar to “Hard Knocks”, though “Hard Knocks” is during training camp and only lasts 4 episodes. “All or Nothing” is 8 episodes in length.

The 2019 season wasn’t a great season to memorialize, for the Eagles, but it’s interesting to watch the team deal with the ups and downs of a tough season.

If you ar an Amazon Prime subscriber, it’s worth checking out.

The Eagles bring back Jordan Matthews

“With DeSean Jackson out for the rest of the regular season, Alshon Jeffery struggling, Nelson Agholor invisible, Mack Hollins less than invisible and J.J. Arcega-White even less visible than that, the Eagles are turning to Jordan Matthews. Again. “

The Eagles release S Andrew Sendejo

In what could be a move to free up a roster spot for WR Jordan Mathews to return for a 3rd stint, the Eagles have released S Andrew Sendejo. By releasing him now, the Eagles should gain a 4th round compensatory draft pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

Sendejo’s time with the Eagles was marked by boneheaded plays, one of which caused Avonte Maddox to miss a month of action.

Looking at the Eagles remaining schedule for 2019 after the Bye

The Eagles are on their bye week this week, and can use it to heal up and prepare for the final push of the 2019 season.

Looking ahead at their final 7 games, what can we expect from the Birds?

The remaining schedule has a few tough matchups, but it also has a bunch of games that the Birds should easily win.

Week 10 Bye
Week 11 New England Patriots
Week 12 Seattle Seahawks
Week 13 @ Miami Dolphins
Week 14 New York Giants
Week 15 @ Washington Redskins
Week 16 Dallas Cowboys
Week 17 @ New York Giants

The Eagles sit in second place in the NFC East at 5-4, a half game behind the Cowboys (4-3). The Cowboys play the New York Giants later tonight, and are expected to win easily but you can never take divisional games for granted and an upset can happen at any time.

Looking at the remaining games for the Cowboys, they are about to enter a tough stretch in their schedule., just as the Eagles are about to finish their tough stretch.

Week 9 @ New York Giants
Week 10 Minnesota Vikings
Week 11 @ Detroit Lions
Week 12 @ New England Patriots
Week 13 Buffalo Bills
Week 14 @ Chicago Bears
Week 15 Los Angeles Rams
Week 16 @ Philadelphia Eagles
Week 17 Washington Redskins

If the Birds can ‘handle their business’ in the next two games and at least win one of those games, there is a realistic possibility for finishing the season with 10 or 11 wins. That’s not a prediction, of course. They have to play the games and actually ‘handle their business’, and we all know how things have gone this season. Handling their business can be a lot easier to say, than to do.
